Start a go native initiative as soon as possible you’re going to hit some bumps but getting ahead of them prevents massive conversion efforts later. We suggest a strategy that allows you to have both Intel and ARM hosts and run builds on both platforms if possible. ( Sign up for Orka Product Updates to get M1 announcements.) Staying ahead of the curveĪs Apple continues to shift its hardware to Apple silicon, it’s time to start preparing and testing your build and CI/CD pipelines now. #Intellij idea apple silicon macWhile the open-source community is pushing the boundaries of what is possible for virtualization on M1, the primary Mac virtualization tools – Orka, Anka, and VMware – are still in development for macOS-based virtualization. Virtualization and virtual applications do not emulate or work through Rosetta. However, virtualization, as we are using it today, is not currently available on M1. (Less than 24 hours following our webinar, Homebrew announced 3.0.0 with official Apple silicon support!) The Virtual Elephant in the Roomīig Sur added some much-needed development to the hypervisor framework, and Apple is continuing to add more capability and feature sets. Check out the resource links below for the most up-to-date information. However, the teams building our favorite tools are hard at work optimizing for M1 and new versions are being announced every day. #Intellij idea apple silicon softwareSoftware that relies on Node or Docker may not be compatible yet, and agents for things like Jenkins that rely on JVM can be problematic. #Intellij idea apple silicon codeXcode and Visual Code work well, but depending on the language or tools you use, things can get iffy. Where things get dicey is in more complex build environments. We’ve found that overall speed and performance are better than expected, but emulation is not a substitute for native applications. And many programs are running really well on Rosetta 2. Some development languages are already performing well on M1, like Python and front-end web development (HTML5, CSS, Javascript). Native applications are working beautifully (as expected), including Xcode and Apple productivity applications like Pages or Numbers. ![]() For a while, it will be a balancing act to get the right tooling since not everything is available right now. Over the next two years, developers will be transitioning to the 64-bit ARM architecture but will need to continue to use Intel Macs in the meantime for things like virtualization and OS backward compatibility. The bad news is that for software developers the race has just started to convert and prepare their apps for Apple silicon. The good news about exciting new hardware is that it unlocks massive potential. With the M1, we’ve seen 2x the CPU performance, 2x the GPU performance, and 3x the average performance per watt.Īnd Big Sur represents a next-generation OS that is optimized specifically for Apple silicon, that has real-time emulation to bridge the gap from Intel to ARM, and is a catalyst for bringing iOS and macOS application interoperability to the OS. As we’ve discussed before on the blog, the M1 was a big surprise for many of us, giving us a new revolutionary level of performance and amazing new architecture. ![]() ![]() Does it really make much of a difference? Probably not. Is this trick in the spirit of the game? Probably not. I'll also be using it to queue up pirate missions when I do a pirate run. I also like using this in the guilds to cycle the list of missions to get a batch that'll bump my rank up by 1 for each set (so +50 points overall). ![]() I remember having a couple of "find 10 alien artifacts and deliver to a nearby system" type quests that were paying 6 figures. Only takes a few minutes of recycling missions until you've got a good list. Rinse and repeat until there's a couple of good missions to do, and then accept the ones you want and go make some money. The "good" missions are still there and the crap ones you cancelled have been replaced with more missions. There doesn't appear to be any penalty for doing so.Įxit the station and immediately dock again. You can then immediately go to the missions screen and cancel them. All you need to do is just accept the missions that you DON'T want to do, leaving the good ones untouched. I like to queue up a batch of 4 or 5 high credit missions (I normally use a Merchants' Guild in a Lv5 or Lv6 system), do the missions one after the other and reap the benefits. Missions replenish automatically at stations when you exit. The Radovich is a great ship to use for this. I have a Mk.3 engine and Mk.3 null grav booster and can run away fairly easy. Don't even try to fight these guys early on. If you get dropped out of warp by pirates you will need them to run away. Stuff like greel whiskey, meteor diamonds, designer clothes, etc.ĭo make sure to have a good engine and a null grav booster. #Rebel galaxy cheat engine mac plusIn one of the extreme difficulty systems in my game on average I get about 20k to 30k credits from a container plus a bunch of rare commodities. Just point your ship towards one, drop out near it, and pulse. While at warp you can see nebula and junk fields in the distance as clouds. If there are cargo containers in the nebula or junk field they will show up as purple diamonds. Press E to drop out of warp close to one and then press F to do a pulse. Go to one of the hardest difficulty systems (they are rated mild, normal, hard, extreme) and just fly around looking for nebula and junk fields. "You don't have to do missions to make money. "What could be more gratifying then spending your hard earned, cold hard cash on a dreadnought. If you cheat yourself money and buy a bunch of ships what are you going to do? Sit in them and look at them? Because otherwise you'll be using those ships to do those missions." ![]() The whole point of saving up to get ships is so you can use them to do those missions. What you're talking about is the entire core mechanic of the game. #Rebel galaxy cheat engine mac fullIt's a shame that if someone asks for help everyone gets butthurt and starts going full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spouting ♥♥♥♥ like "If you find "griniding missions" to make money is too repetitive and boring, this is not the game for you." Killing Annihilators and Gargantuas takes some time but it's not terribly risky. play pretty aggressively in a Very High risk mission in Mk 6 space without taking any damage to the hull plating. Sturville is still manueverable and tough enough that it's still quite doable to e.g. Switching to a Blackgate would mean even more credits to take advantage of all the turret slots as compensation for being a gigantic slow ship. There's not a huge value for me in switching up to a Minotaur until then, and I need to do more mercenary missions for that anyway. Getting the "deflected explosions recharge my shields lol" component was also pricey. I've only replaced two of four Particle Beam Mk 5 w/ Mk 6s so far (one turret has a Viridian laser Mk 5, unlikely to swap that out for anything but a Mk 6 if I ever find one), and those are expensive (roughly 3.1M each w/ the trade-in, IIRC ~4.6M ea if it were an empty turret slot). Went pretty quickly through Mastodon, Icarus and Tennhausen, but been sticking with the Sturville for a while. Nobody's being unfair, I was just replying to your opinion with one of mine :) no worries here.ĭoes anybody else stick with the same ship for ages? StoryMill: a novel framework However, for some people the time necessary to set up their own framework in Scrivener is well worth the effort because the program’s flexibility allows them to write most effectively. If StoryMill’s framework makes sense to you and you don’t have an urgent need for any of the features that are Scrivener-only, then StoryMill will be the easiest environment to write in. You can do most of the things in Scrivener that you can in StoryMill (with a few key exceptions), but it will be slightly more effort. In contrast, Scrivener is much more flexible and offers a larger number of features that you can pick and choose from to form your workflow. StoryMill’s approach is to provide you with a specific framework for writing and organizing, complemented with a focused group of powerful features. STORYIST AND SCRIVENER SOFTWAREThe truth is that regardless of your genre the deciding factor for which software to use will be a matter of style. The reason the fiction/non-fiction comparison is common is because StoryMill is explicitly focused on fiction (and doesn’t support screenplays at all, since that would steal sales from its companion software Montage) while Scrivener provides a general writing metaphor that can apply to either genre equally well (with limited support for screenplay formatting and footnotes). If you primarily write non-fiction or screenplays or write fiction and want a program that will let you do pretty much whatever the hell you want workflow-wise (with a correspondingly higher level of confusion), you’ll probably prefer Scrivener.Īs is often the case, the fast and dirty comparison is a bit misleading: either program can help you write fiction or non-fiction.If you primarily write fiction and want a program that will provide you with an easy framework for organizing your writing, you’ll probably prefer StoryMill. ![]() Not everyone wants to wade through my periphrastic meanderings (just discovered that word, and it’s making me really happy sorry for sounding like a total vocab snob), so here’s the quick and dirty: Although StoryMill is my personal application of choice, there’s a lot to love (and some things to dislike) about both programs. Well, here it is: my definitive StoryMill vs. STORYIST AND SCRIVENER MACParticularly now that StoryMill has a timeline view (as of this writing the only Mac creative writing software to implement the feature) and Mariner Software is distributing it, it seems like a more and more people are wondering whether they should use StoryMill or Scrivener. I’m a long-time user of StoryMill (starting when it was originally called Avenir), but I’m also something of a software junkie, so when Scrivener came out I tried using it for a few projects. ![]() ![]() ![]() Please note we only make one contribution per user to avoid abuse of the tool. ![]() ![]() If we can get just one percent of those people to use our broadband speed test, we could raise millions for charity.
